Five years after a Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed between Guizhou University (GZU), China and Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC), delegates from the Chinese university have returned to renew the agreement. Both universities agree to promote university programs and to exchange faculty members, scholars, and students in education and other related research.
Founded in 1902, Guizhou is the largest university in Guizhou Province and consists of twenty colleges and three public education departments. There are more than sixty thousands students nowadays, including both local and international students.
It is noted that two PUC students have so far graduated from Guizhou University. According to the terms of the MoU, GZU plans to provide two scholarships each year to PUC students, encompassing Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral degrees. Moreover, the two parties intend to add short-term student exchanges, mainly in the area of tourism. In addition, a Chinese center will be set up at PUC to allow students to learn Chinese language and culture.
“Having more than 40 partners around the world and being members of the International Association of University Presidents, we hope to share each other’s resources, connections, and links,” addressed Ms Ling Qi,Chairperson of the College Affairs Committee, in her closing remarks.
