Two delegates from Northern Illinois University in Chicago, USA visited Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) on February 16, 2015 to renew Memorandum of Understanding and strengthening Academic Cooperation between the two institutions.
In the discussion, Dr. Lesly Rigg, delegate from the Illinois University, said in the talk mainly about language study of South East Asian in which the University of Illinois is conducting in different language of Burmese, Thai, Khmer, Indonesia, Malaysia except Vietnamese. There are quite a lot of Cambodian students who have taken this course in the University of Illinois.
“Several years ago, PUC has at least three students to win Fulbright. AT least one students was sent to graduate program in Illinois,” said Dr. Kol Pheng, PUC President and founder.
Illinois is one of the top university in the U.S, which was founded in 1895. There are about twenty thousand students recently. A quarter of which are graduate and three quarter are undergraduate. Until 1957 Northern Illinois became a University. There are seven colleges and over twenty different departments including social sciences, humanity and science.
