Four PUC students received scholarship grants of $300USD from the Japanese Yonezawa Rotary Club (JYR). They are: Sourng Sythorn, majoring in TESOL; Sien Kong Rathana, majoring in Computer Science; Nov Synoeun, Majoring in Media; and Venerable Mang Chet, Majoring in Political Science.
The grants are offered to students with low socio-economic backgrounds, especially to students in his or her third year of study at PUC. In order to win the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: He or she must have strong English skills; a GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates or 3.5 for graduates; and must not be a recipient of another scholarship program.
“The amount of money really helps me to complete my studies in order to reach my future dream,” said Venerable Mang Chet in his thank you speech. He added that he wishes Cambodia will develop as Japan has.
